Okay, first things first.

WHOO WHOO!!!

Manga Studio is beating my ass....I have to jack CS4 from Kris.  One thing that I've learned about writing a comic....is that your number one asset is sheer willpower.  Things have been going crazy for our comic groups, but I for one REFUSE to let things fall to the wayside.

The website for the webcomic is up, and thanks to the efforts of my team members, we now have a working comic.  It's just the beginning.  We're considering selling t-shirts too.

How do I feel about all this?  Pretty darn amazed.  I never thought that I'd be doin' this, but it feels good, and I like what I do.  So I'm going to keep on workin' on it.

Thanks to the TMC core team for workin' so damn hard.

Let me get this off my chest.  The swine flu looks to be another case of the flu that we don't have regular immunity to.  So guess what.  If you get hit with it, let your immune system fight it off.  Just don't tax it by doin' more shit on top of your body's healing.

Anywhoo, I've found myself quite busy as of late, which is good.  Strawberry Scented Burnout is now online, I've become some sort of taskmaster when it comes to my peoples, and I've found time to start reading Tom Clancy novels.  I've started reading Rainbow Six, which is a pretty nifty novel.  The attention to detail that Clancy has in this book is immense.  It makes things very easy to picture.  Then again, playing it also helps.

I've found that once people know you're a comic writer/CEO, it tends to loosen people up.  I wonder what that's the case?  Maybe they're relieved that they've met someone crazier than they are?  Well, it gives me something to work with, so let's leave it at that.

I also spend a lot more time at the gym.  The Boxing Club is the shit.  Through the training sessions that I've gotten through, my body image is definitely changing for the better.  One of my old friends at SWC saw me recently and said that I've become "ripped and scary".  The scary part is what I'm having difficulty fathoming.

So, I'm going to be a good little blogger and update this more often.  So many things are going through my head, it's a good idea to collect my thoughts.

Can't stop the rock, and the Twitch, for that matter.

So it begins.  Endings are really new beginnings, after all.  That’s what I’ve learned through the years.  People change, hearts move, the world is constantly changing, growing, evolving….and so are we.

Alright, enough with the philosophical B.S.  You’re obviously here because some higher power led you here (Google?), or you got the link from one of us at Mixed Nuts Comics.  In any case, welcome to “Strawberry Scented Burnout”!

“Strawberry Scented Burnout” is a webcomic that chronicles the experiences, events, and daily lives of a certain group of friends in San Diego, California.  Things aren’t always as real as they seem, however.  With that in mind allow me to get this out of the way:

THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION. ANY SIMILARITIES TO ACTUAL PEOPLE LIVING OR DEAD IS COINCIDENTAL.  IF YOU TRY ANY OF THIS STUFF FEATURED IN THE COMIC, YOU NEED TO SEE A PSYCHIATRIST.  MIXED NUTS COMICS IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PSYCHOLOGICAL, EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL, ECONOMICAL, POLITICAL, OR PHYSICAL DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR AS A RESULT OF READING THIS COMIC.

*ahem*

That’s enough from me.  We @ Mixed Nuts Comics hope you enjoy reading our comic, as we sure as hell had fun making it.

If you have any questions, comments, phone numbers, lotto numbers, or anything random to say, don’t hesitate to contact us.

3rd-Mar-2009 07:54 pm - Rewriting scripts.
Travis Touchdown
I'm going over the scripts for the first story arc and I've come to the realization that it doesn't help my artists too much.  Sure there's words, and dialog, but I'm not doing a good job of establishing the scene, or how I'd like it to flow.  No more.  I'm reworking the scripts to be easier on my artists, so they can visualize it easier....

After I play Persona 4.

Okay, fuck you reaper dude.  Thankfully I was able to escape, so now I gotta try again on the absolute last day, after I've grinded to beat your ass.

Next game, I'm naming the MC "Soap McTavish".  Call of Duty 4 FTW.

Well, last night's fight was a surprise.  Pacquiao took down De La Hoya.  Although my sources tell me the fight was horribly one-sided.  In any case, congrats, Pac-man.

I've been spending my time resting, in between coughing spells and Metal Gear Solid 4, Tales of Vesperia, and Eternal Sonata.  Whatever bacterial infection I had is on it's way out now.  My only gripe is that I haven't been able to train in a week, which means that I've gotta work out double time to make up for the time that I've missed.  At least I can see the fruits of my training, I've lost a considerable amount of gut-space =).  A little more and I'll be ready for the new year.

Kim and Tim got married a few weeks ago, so congrats, Mr. and Mrs. Sheehy.  Leila and Enrique are getting married in a few weeks as well.  It's good to see weddings happening...and yet I wonder when the same will happen for me?  Obviously not any time soon.  To be honest, there are times when I wish that things didn't turn out the way they did.  Those thoughts quickly disappear when I remind myself just what the hell happened to me back in July.  It's kinda hard to not get all mushy at this time of year, right?  Well, as long as I've got my friends, I'll be okay.

The comic?  We've got some raw pages that need to be ink'ed digitally, and Mochi is working on the web layout.  I'd like to thank my staff for putting up with my shenanigans so far, 'cuz without them there'd be no comic.

Considering how things have been over these past few weeks, it was really good to be at the Friday meeting with my comic homies.  They got a whole bunch of work done, and seeing their art fired me up as well.  I think working with everyone in that group just kinda fires up the latent creative energies lying within everyone.  So, who knows what can come out?

Looking back on it all, I still find it hard to believe that we're all undertaking something this grand.  Making comics was something that I never dreamed about doing, much less ever considered.  Yet, here I am, with my teammates at Mixed Nuts Comics, and my "accomplices" at Waxed Fruit Comics.

Kickboxing has been going great.  My weight still kinda fluctuates around the 190 pound mark, but my overall endurance has improved.  I don't puke as much as I did before, and training with Charlie is helping me stay motivated and focused.  I'm really blessed to have such wonderful family and friends.  I do feel a lot better than I did before.

Next friday is another meeting, and this time, I've gotta show something.  I'm gonna be headin' up to O'side (hopefully) to check out the art of Kris.  Between running "Mixed Nuts Comics", participating in the "Waxed Fruit Comics" activities and meetings, Kickboxing, Work...I think I'm ready to fall in love again.  Something just kinda feels.....

Maybe this'll trigger a "flag", right Chibi?
